As a small business owner, I’ve spent the past year pouring my heart into creating unique, affordable products that bring people joy. But as I sit down to plan my promotions for the months ahead, I find myself struggling with a deep sense of conflict. The world feels heavy right now—between economic instability, political uncertainty, and the very real struggles so many people are facing, marketing my products sometimes feels... off.
I know I’m not alone in this. Many small business owners are wrestling with the same questions: How do we promote our work without seeming insensitive? How do we encourage sales when people are carefully budgeting every dollar? How do we stand out when big brands dominate the conversation, yet many consumers are choosing to step away from large corporations?
The truth is, small businesses are feeling this moment just as much as consumers. Every purchase at a shop like mine isn’t funding a CEO’s bonus—it’s helping keep a dream alive. It’s covering the cost of materials, website fees, and shipping supplies. It’s allowing me to continue giving back to the local animal rescue I support with every sale. And, honestly, it’s giving me hope that I can keep going.
I never want to pressure anyone into buying something they don’t need. But I do want to remind people that shopping small is a choice that directly impacts real people and communities. If you’re in a position to support small businesses—whether through a purchase, a share on social media, or a kind word of encouragement—it truly makes a difference.
So, I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep creating. And I’ll keep believing that in uncertain times, community and creativity can be part of what keeps us all moving forward.
To everyone who has supported my small business in any way, thank you. You are seen, you are appreciated, and you are making an impact.
With gratitude,
