If you've been following the news lately, you've probably seen a lot of chatter about new tariffs and ongoing trade tensions. For many small business owners, it's become an all-too-familiar cycle—just when you start to find your rhythm, a new policy or cost increase comes along that throws everything off balance.
As a small business owner myself, I get it. When you're hand-packing orders at the kitchen table or spending weekends at local markets, even the smallest changes to supply costs can feel overwhelming. For those of you who rely on international materials or manufacturing partners, this latest round of tariff changes might be causing real stress—and you’re not alone.
At Furever Framed, I’ve been lucky in one regard: all of the materials used to create our custom photo magnets are sourced right here in the United States. That means, at least for now, we’re not directly impacted by the shifting tariffs. It also means we’re able to keep our prices stable and continue offering the kind of personal, handcrafted quality that inspired me to start this shop in the first place.
But let me be clear—this isn’t a humblebrag. It's a moment to recognize how hard so many of you are working just to keep up with the moving targets. Whether you're a fellow maker, an Etsy/Shopify shop owner, or running a small brick-and-mortar, I see you. Navigating uncertain costs while trying to stay true to your brand and your customers is no small feat.
If there’s a silver lining, maybe it’s this: more shoppers are paying attention. People are starting to realize that “handmade” and “locally sourced” aren’t just buzzwords—they’re part of a business model that’s sustainable, ethical, and often more resilient in the face of global change.
So to my fellow small business owners: hang in there. You’re doing important work, and you’re not in this alone. And to our customers and supporters—thank you. Every order, every like, every share means the world.
If you’re looking for a little made-in-the-USA magic for your fridge or gifting list, you know where to find me.
With gratitude,
